Channel catfish are Oklahoma's most widely distributed catfish — present in essentially every Corps reservoir, state-park lake, river, and farm pond in the state, and the bread-and-butter target for rod-and-line, trotline, jugline, and limbline anglers. ODWC stocks channel catfish into hundreds of small community lakes and the Close to Home Fishing waters across the Oklahoma City + Tulsa metros, making channel cats the most-caught catfish in the state by a wide margin. The statewide ODWC rule places channel catfish with blue catfish under a combined cap: 15 fish per angler per day in the aggregate across channel + blue (only 1 blue over 30 in), with NO statewide minimum length on channel catfish. Flathead is a separate 5-fish limit. State Park lakes, WMA ponds, ODWC fishing areas, Close-to-Home waters, and the Wichita Mountains NWR carry a tighter 6-fish combined channel+blue limit (Lake Murray is exempt).
