Shabbona Lake (320-acre DeKalb County state park lake) is IDNR's flagship muskie water — the IL state-record muskellunge (38 lb 8 oz) came from Shabbona in 2002, and the lake is one of the most-fished muskie destinations south of Wisconsin + Minnesota. Lake Shelbyville + the Fox Chain O' Lakes round out the major muskellunge waters. Pierce Lake (Rock Cut State Park) + Sam Dale Lake + Otter Lake + Kinkaid Lake also receive IDNR muskie + tiger muskie stockings.
