Candlewood Lake (5,420 acres) is the unquestioned CT smallmouth flagship — 4 – 5 lb fish are routine and 6+ lb fish are caught annually from rocky shorelines + deep water structure. Lake Lillinonah holds the second-tier trophy population in the steep Housatonic gorge. East Twin Lake (Salisbury) holds the third-tier Litchfield Hills smallmouth.
