Alaskan rainbow trout — including the famed Bristol Bay drainages and the Kenai/Naknek/Brooks systems — are managed for trophy growth. Many waters are catch-and-release only, especially during spawning windows; the largest fish (over 18 inches in many drainages) must be released.

Open year-round on most waters; spawning closures Apr–Jun on some drainages.
